CommuniGate Systems, a developer of unified communications software that targets web hosting providers as a distribution channel, announced this week that it has released version 6.0 of its CommuniGate Pro tool, adding VoIP security enhancements, performance improvements and a new HTML 5 client.

CommuniGate made a strong push for significance in the hosting market in September when it launched an open-source cPanel adaptor kit, designed to enable hosting providers to deliver its high-end unified communications tools from a VPS environment.

Information and a demo of the CommuniGate cPanel adaptor are available online, as is the downloadable code for the open source cPanel adaptor.

According to the press release announcing CommuniGate Pro 6.0, the new version contains a range of new security features, including SRTP encryption for VoIP calls; the addition of S/MIME operations in the XIMMS API for securely integrating third party apps with the tool; and support for PacketCable 2.0 to enable compliance with telecom, banking and public sector regulatory issues.

One of the key new CommuniGate features is the new Pronto! Pro unified communications client. The new release includes new versions for the Android and iOS mobile versions of the tool, as well as a new HTML5 client to enable simple chat and VoIP calls via any desktop and browser. The Pronto! Pro update also includes new functions for managing encryption certificates, encrypted instant messaging and IM file transfer, and new support for large file transfers.

The new tool also includes support for a few new tools, including Outlook 2013, and ActiveSync v14.0.

A full feature description for CommuniGate Pro 6.0 is available from the company?s website.
